Strengthening Our Black Females Out of Love
Featuring…
Fabulous Females of February
Black History Month 2017… and we are just days from the end of this round of celebrations family. Have you celebrated us yet this year? I hope so! Because when we celebrate “them” all of those who have contributed to the great legacy of our African-American heritage, we in turn celebrate our own wonderful selves! I promised at the beginning of BHM that we would give honor to some Fabulous Females who have contributed to our history in their own way by sharing their gifts with the world. Their contributions help to make our culture and voice a resounding force in this space that we live in. Of course the number of black women doing incredible and amazing things everyday would be far too many to name, starting right in our own households, families and communities. We excel at all we truly set our minds, hearts and souls to do. We are artistic, scientific, specific and logistic. We write, we compose, we sing, we dance; we make music with anything that can make a sound. We paint, we sculpt, we act, and we produce, direct and stage live shows. We teach, we preach, we reach and we welcome those who are thirsty to come and drink from a river that never runs dry.
Today I want to lift up a sister who is truly dear to my heart. I choose her today as my first fabulous female of February 2017. Her name is CeCe Winans. This woman of God sings the Gospel of Jesus Christ with her whole, entire heart and her love for Him is never in question. I have listened to her music for years. I have seen her live on stage. I have watched countless videos and she never disappoints. And I believe it is because she is just real. She is so authentic about everything that she does, says and sings sharing the wonderful message of the Good News! The Good News that Jesus loves you, that He gave His life for you and that you were worth it. She brings a POWERFUL message in very simple terms which is exactly (I feel) the way God intends for it to be. He doesn’t want it complicated or confusing, but pure and simple. And that is exactly the message that I have always gotten from this Fabulous Woman. Songs like “Alone in His Presence”, “Alabaster Box”, “Jesus You’re Beautiful”, “Don’t Cry For Me”, “Mercy Said No”, just to name a few. Then there are many songs that were done with her brother BeBe Winans and if you want to just go to church, turn her loose on and old traditional Hymn like “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”. She is a wife and mother. She is the eighth child of the Winans family born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She is the co-founder along with her husband Alvin Love of the Light Church in Nashville, TN which was formed in 2012. She has a brand new album just released this month called “Let Them Fall in Love”. Her first musical release in 9 years! I have sampled some of the tracks on her website. It is sure to bless and I can’t wait to hear it all. As we are Strengthening Our Black Females Out of Love….let’s look to strong, positive examples like Ms. Priscilla Marie Winans Love. We love you CeCe! We are SOBFOL.
